The Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston | Woodlands Waterway

THE BEST PLACES FOR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS IN HOUSTON | A BLOG SERIES  4TH INSTALLMENT | THE WOODLANDS WATERWAY Thank you for checking out the 4th installment of my Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston blog series. If you would like to catch up on the other places featured in the series you may do so here. For this installment I ventured outside of my normal stomping grounds, to a place about 30 minutes north of downtown Houston. The Woodlands Waterway is a business / shopping district located right off of I-45 near the Woodlands Community. As always, for my Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston series, I will be rating each location based on a number of factors: Aesthetics, Location, Uniqueness, Comfort, and Diversity. So let’s get right into it…. Aesthetics – 4.5 out of 5 – This is one of the nicest places I’ve shot at since moving to Houston. There is plenty of green space, water, clean and open walkways, and even an urban feel in some parts if you want that. There are parks attached to the waterway, as well as beautifully decorated trees. It is really a nice place to do a session. Location – 5 out of 5 – The Woodlands Waterway is very easy to get to. It’s right off of I-45, has multiple entrances / exits, and multiple parking lots. There are a range of places to do a session here, and if the lots are full they even have a few parking garages. Uniqueness – 4.5 out of 5 – The only reason this isn’t rated a 5 is...

The Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston | Lost Lake

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been two months since I wrote one of these. Mainly because recently this has been extremely fun for me. I guess I’ve never really explained how this “Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston” blog series came about. Well, sit back, because I’ve got a boring story coming your way! I love photography (in case you can’t tell), but I also love people! I am a recent transplant to the beautiful city of Houston, TX, and as you may or may not know, starting up a new business in a completely new part of the country can be quite challenging. I’ll be completely honest, the inquiries weren’t coming in like I would’ve liked, but I needed to get out and shoot! (my camera ;-). So my wife and I came up with a plan that would help me meet new people, get a lay of the land, and cure my photography itch. I posted online for new couples who I had never shot with before to contact me for “engagement type” photos in a specific area, and I would give them a discounted rate since they gave me full creative power during the session. Well I got a pretty good response so far and that is how The Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston blog series was born! See, that wasn’t too bad was it? Oh, I almost forgot! I want to keep this going! I want to keep it going until the “best places” aren’t the “most popular places”. Are you interested in helping me by being one of my couples? Don’t worry,...
The Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston | Hermann Park

The Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston | Hermann Park

BEST PLACES FOR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS IN HOUSTON | A BLOG SERIES 2ND INSTALLMENT | HERMANN PARK Thank you for checking out the 2nd installment of my Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston blog series. If you would like to read the 1st installment that features the Theater District, you can do that here. Today we’re talking about Hermann Park. For those of you familiar with the park, note that we will only be talking about the main area of the park. We will not be including the golf course, Japanese Gardens, or the newly added Centennial Gardens. Those will most likely be added in future posts. When you get to Hermann Park, the first thing you notice is how massive it is. It is a HUGE park. There is water, plenty of green space, running / biking paths, a train track, artwork, and a lot more. The craziest part is, what you can see first entering the park is only a fraction of what it has to offer. This park has so much that there is no way we will be able to cover it in one post. So today we will only be covering the main areas of the park near the entrance. Remember, for my Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston series, I will be rating each location based on a number of factors: Aesthetics, Location, Uniqueness, Comfort, and Diversity. So let’s get right into it…. Aesthetics – 4.5 out of 5 – So let’s just get this out of the way, this park is beautiful. And I’m not even going over some of the most...
The Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston | Theater District

The Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston | Theater District

BEST PLACES FOR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS IN HOUSTON | A BLOG SERIES 1ST INSTALLMENT | THEATER DISTRICT For a long time I have been looking to compile a list of the best places for engagement photos in Houston, Texas. Today I’m adding the first installment to that list with one of the most beautiful places in downtown Houston, the Theater District. This post will specifically cover the area around the Wortham Center. The Wortham Center is a large theater on the Buffalo Bayou in the northeast edge of downtown Houston. It sits right on the edge of the beautiful Houston Theater District. The Wortham Center is a quite popular place for photos of all types, and it’s not uncommon to see multiple photographers lined up with their subjects waiting to take shots at the Wortham Falls beside the theater. For my Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston series, I will be rating each location based on a number of factors: Aesthetics, Location, Uniqueness, Comfort, and Diversity are the factors we will be looking at for each area. So let’s get right into it…. Aesthetics – 4 out of 5 – Personally, I usually enjoy taking engagement photos in more natural settings, but it’s nice to switch it up sometimes. An urban area has a feeling of fun and power that you just can’t get in a natural setting, and as far as urban settings go, it doesn’t get much better than the theater district. In fact, the Theater District has a healthy mix of both natural and urban looks. It’s clean, there is a lot to do / look at, and...
