THE BEST PLACES FOR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS IN HOUSTON | A BLOG SERIES

4TH INSTALLMENT | THE WOODLANDS WATERWAY

Thank you for checking out the 4th installment of my Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston blog series. If you would like to catch up on the other places featured in the series you may do so here.

For this installment I ventured outside of my normal stomping grounds, to a place about 30 minutes north of downtown Houston. The Woodlands Waterway is a business / shopping district located right off of I-45 near the Woodlands Community.

As always, for my Best Places for Engagement Photos in Houston series, I will be rating each location based on a number of factors: Aesthetics, Location, Uniqueness, Comfort, and Diversity. So let’s get right into it….

Aesthetics – 4.5 out of 5 – This is one of the nicest places I’ve shot at since moving to Houston. There is plenty of green space, water, clean and open walkways, and even an urban feel in some parts if you want that. There are parks attached to the waterway, as well as beautifully decorated trees. It is really a nice place to do a session.

The greenery and water make for beautiful scenery. And notice the lights on the trees. Adds an extra touch.

This is truly a beautiful spot for couples’ photos.

Location – 5 out of 5 – The Woodlands Waterway is very easy to get to. It’s right off of I-45, has multiple entrances / exits, and multiple parking lots. There are a range of places to do a session here, and if the lots are full they even have a few parking garages.

Uniqueness – 4.5 out of 5 – The only reason this isn’t rated a 5 is because it would have to be a VERY special, VERY unknown place to rate 5 in the uniqueness category. The Woodlands Waterway is very unique, with plenty of opportunities for different sessions. It’s very unlikely that multiple sessions here will look the same, simply due to the size and diversity of the Waterway.

The wide multi-use paths are wonderful for taking pictures on.

Comfort – 4 out of 5 – When you’re out taking professional pictures, people tend to stare. And why wouldn’t they? You’re all dressed up, looking amazing, and there is someone following you around with a large camera, lights, and directing what you should do / how you should pose. But not all couples like people staring at them. In fact, some people get REALLY uncomfortable about it and it can really get them out of the proper mood. The Waterway is a very comfortable place to shoot. Although it has a tendency to get decently busy (especially on the weekends) it’s large size means you can always find a more comfortable place to do your session.

There are plenty of places to shoot with a good amount of privacy.

Diversity – 5 out of 5 – Simply put, this place has it all. Green spaces, water, places with an urban feel, even some fun tunnels to shoot in. Unfortunately for this session, I didn’t get to show off the full diversity of the Waterway, but trust me, there is a lot that can be done here. And after your session is over, there are some great restaurants nearby to grab some food!

Overall – 4.6 out of 5 – Overall the Woodlands Waterway is an awesome place to do your engagement photos! At the date of this publication, the Woodlands Waterway scored higher than any other place that I’ve reviewed.
