August 1st, 2015 I got the awesome opportunity to go cover the Houston Black Heritage Festival at Discovery Green Park. The annual festival celebrates black heritage by developing and executing events that support direct services and programs related to health & wellness, financial empowerment, and education. They strive to create opportunities for self-expression in the creative arts: music, poetry, dance, and theatre; as well as offer a unique blend of African and African American art, culture, and history to the Houston area.
This festival was awesome! Over 7,500 people attended. There was great music, tons of cool people, and plenty of things to keep all ages busy. The highlight of the night was a concert by Mint Condition, but I’m going to save those pictures for next week’s blog post. Here are some of my favorites from the event.
Hope you enjoyed the images, and remember, stay tuned next Thursday for part two featuring the Mint Condition concert.
